On November 8, 2018, the community of Paradise, California was ravaged by what would be known as the Camp Fire. One of the deadliest fires in California history, it was also resulted in the massive loss of homes, businesses, and many other structures.

As families were displaced, Never Counted Out donated books to shelters and other groups supporting Paradise residents in the immediate aftermath. Realizing there would be a greater need than the supply we had on hand, we put out a call for #KidLitForCampfire. We were able to donate 1,600 plus books to the young people attending school in Chico, California.

This is just one of the ways we try to expand our support in times of immense need because story is a refuge, an escape, a place to belong.
